Serialization assigns a unique identity to each saleable unit of a drug product using GS1-compliant barcodes and QR codes. Each unit carries four mandatory data elements: GTIN, serial number, batch number, and expiry date — all required by the SFDA’s Drug Track and Trace System (RSD).
